Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy has directed officials to prepare development plans for all major temples on the banks of the Godavari river ahead of the Godavari pushkaralu, a major festival celebrated once in 12 years, scheduled for next year.
A comprehensive plan should be prepared to ensure seamless road connectivity to all pushkaram venues before the start of the pushkaral to be held between June 26 and July 7 next year. The minister was speaking at a meeting of a cabinet sub-committee headed by minister D. Sridhar Babu to review the arrangements being made for pushkarala here on Tuesday.
Mr. Srinivas Reddy wanted a comprehensive master plan to be prepared for the development of the areas adjacent to the main highways connecting Pushkaram localities. Proposals should therefore be prepared taking into account the financial requirements for the development of these places. Along with the Basar, Bhadrachalam and Hanuman temples in Kondagattu, officials should focus on other major temples while planning the connectivity related aspects. Steps should be taken to ensure that connections are made to major temples as part of their development work.
Since the master plan for Basar has already been prepared, officials should take steps to create a similar plan for Bhadrachalam and get Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy’s approval for its development.
