LeBron James is leaving the Lakers after eight seasons and is ready to test free agency in the NBA

The end of an era came to Los Angeles when NBA superstar LeBron James informed the Lakers on Tuesday that he will continue his career elsewhere after eight seasons with the franchise. The four-time NBA champion departs after leading the Lakers to the 2020 NBA title and cementing his legacy in purple and gold, with the Golden State Warriors emerging as frontrunners to land the league’s all-time leading scorer.

In a post on social media, the Lakers thanked LeBron for his service and said goodbye to the NBA legend.

“LeBron James is one of the greatest athletes in history,” they said. “We will always be grateful for his eight years with the Lakers – including the title he led us to in 2020 under the most difficult circumstances imaginable and the countless records he broke in purple and gold. We wish him the best for the future, on and off the court. He will always be a valued part of the Lakers family.” Lakers announced the departure of LeBron James (Photo X/@Lakers)
