Bangladesh and Pakistan will begin their three-match ODI series on Wednesday, March 11 at the ShereBangla National Stadium in Dhaka, with the second and third matches scheduled for March 13 and 15, respectively. This is Pakistan’s first full post-50s tour of Bangladesh in over a decade.
Both teams are using the series to prepare for upcoming global events, including the ODI World Cup 2027. Pakistan bring a mix of experienced players and new talent, while Bangladesh are looking to make a strong comeback after missing out on the recent Men’s T20 World Cup and look to re-establish themselves on the international stage.

The conditions in Dhaka are expected to offer a fair competition for both batsmen and bowlers, making this series an important chance to tune the teams and gain early momentum.
PAKISTAN BANK FOR NEWCOMERS
The Pakistan selectors have taken a bold approach for this tour, naming a 15-man squad led by captain Shaheen Shah Afridi that includes six uncapped players to provide valuable experience to new talent. Babar Azam, Naseem Shah and Saim Ayub were left out.
The newcomers, Abdul Samad, Maaz Sadaqat, Muhammad Ghazi Ghori, Saad Masood, Sahibzada Farhan and Shamyl Hussain have earned their places through strong performances in domestic cricket and for the Pakistan Shaheens.
Before starting the series in Dhaka Afridi confirmed that three of them will make their ODI debuts: Farhan and Sadaqat will open the batting while Hussain will bat at No.3, giving a fresh look to the top order.
Head coach Mike Hesson emphasized that the series is a chance for these youngsters to showcase their skills at international level, rather than a reflection on older players.
BANGLADESH RETURNS KEY PLAYERS
Bangladesh have announced a strong squad for the series, marking their return to international cricket after missing out on the T20 World Cup. Key players including fast bowlers Nahid Rana and Shoriful Islam and all-rounder Afif Hossain are back, strengthening the team’s balance in both batting and bowling.
However, experienced players like Nurul Hasan, Jaker Ali and Shamim Hossain have been left out, reflecting some changes in the squad ahead of the series.
Bangladesh head coach Phil Simmons has confirmed that veteran batsman Litton Das will bat at No.5, bringing experience and stability to the middle order in the 50-over format.
Currently ranked 10th in the world, Bangladesh will also be looking to secure direct qualification for next year’s ODI World Cup. The team will be hoping to repeat past successes, recall their 3-0 home win over Pakistan in April 2015 and put up another strong performance in the upcoming matches.
