
The Kochi city police on Wednesday (March 11, 2026) imposed traffic regulations in view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the city. Restrictions will apply on three VVIP routes.
Route 1
Traffic between Naval Base and Marine Drive will be restricted from 12:00 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. Traffic on the route will be detoured from 11:00 a.m. Private and KSRTC buses from Fort Kochi/Mattancherry to Ernakulam/Kakkanad/Aluva will be diverted from BOT East Junction to Kundannur. Buses from Ernakulam/Kakkanad/Aluva will be diverted from Edappally.
Light motor vehicles from Fort Kochi will be diverted towards Thevara Ferry, Mattammal, Panampilly Nagar South, Manorama Junction and Edappally at BOT West. Those from Bolgatty Junction will be diverted via Chathyath Junction, Pachalam, Pachalam overbridge, Pottakkuzhy, Mamangalam and Edappally.
Vehicles from High Court Junction to Fort Kochi will be diverted via Madhava Pharmacy Junction, DCC Junction, Iyyattil Junction, Chittoor Road, Valanjambalam, Manorama U-turn and Panampilly Nagar.
Route 2
Traffic will be restricted between Marine Drive and JLN Stadium, Kaloor from 12:50 PM to 1:20 PM Vehicles from Aluva to High Court Junction will have to take the following route: Edappally-Mamangalam-Pottakkuzhy-Pachalam overbridge-Chathyath.
Route 3
The restrictions will be in place from 3:05 pm to 3:30 pm For those coming from Thrissur, Vypeen and Paravur, parking is provided at Bolgatta Water Metro premises, Vallarpadom Basilica grounds and LNG terminal premises.
Vehicles from Thiruvananthapuram, Kottayam, Muvattupuzha and Fort Kochi will be parked at Durbar Hall Ground, Maharaja’s College Ground, Ernakulathappan Temple Ground and Ayyappankavu Temple grounds.
Heavy vehicles will not be allowed to enter the city from 10pm on Tuesday (March 10) until the end of the VIP visit, police said.
