The Cochin Port Authority (CPA) has proposed the development of marine tourism at Puthuvype Beach to tap the tourism potential of its properties. The port has invited Expressions of Interest (EoIs) from developers, investors, hospitality operators and marine tourism operators to develop marine tourism related activities on 35 acres owned by the port on the beach on a long-term lease basis.
The proposed concept aims to promote sustainable beach and marine tourism, improve coastal infrastructure, generate rental income, create employment opportunities and contribute to regional economic growth while ensuring environmental sustainability.
The CPA expects proposals for projects such as beach resorts, eco-resorts, waterfront hospitality infrastructure, recreational facilities, water sports infrastructure, wellness tourism, cultural spaces, tourism promotion facilities and other permissible coastal tourism activities. “The exact nature and scope of the development will be finalized at a later stage following the evaluation of responses to this EOI,” the document said. The project must strictly comply with applicable statutory regulations, including Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) norms and environmental laws, the company said.
The offered land stretches about 1.5 km along the sea coast and is approximately 75-125 meters wide. The deadline for EoI submission is April 8, 2026 at 3 PM. EoIs will be opened at 3:30 PM on the same day.
