
Writer T Padmanabhan released the novel Niyogam written by senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala in the capital on Monday.
Although he traveled to Chicago on several occasions, he never managed to set a novel in an American city, said writer T. Padmanabhan.
Mr. Padmanabhan was speaking here on Monday about Chicago at the release of Niyogam, a novel by senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala set against the backdrop of the “Windy City”.
Mr. Padmanabhan who expressed hope that the book will reach a large number of readers and formally handed over the book to the film director Blessy.
When he received the book, Mr. Blessy said he felt admiration and affection for Mr. Chennithal, and even a sense of envy, because although he had written screenplays for several films, he had yet to write a novel himself.
Mr. Blessy also congratulated Chennithal for finding time to write the novel despite his busy political schedule.
In his speech, Mr. Chennithala said that the idea of writing the novel arose out of reflections on the individuals one meets in life, the events one witnesses and the situations one faces along with one’s experiences of love, conflict and emotional anxieties.
Critic PK Rajasekharan launched the book at an event chaired by writer George Onakkoor.
Niyogam is the first novel written by Mr. Chennithala who has written a number of other books earlier.
