As part of its commitment to employee welfare and in an effort to create an inclusive work environment, South Western Railway’s Mysuru Division has set up a daycare/nursery facility, namely Giggles & Wiggles, at the Mysuru Divisional Office premises for the benefit of Railway employees working in the HQ area.
The facility was virtually inaugurated by DRM Guntur and President, South Western Railway Women Welfare Organization (SWRWWO), Sudeshna Sen, while Divisional Railway Manager, Mysuru, Mudit Mittal formally inaugurated the crèche facility.
The initiative was launched in line with the Division’s responsibility as a primary employer to promote a supportive and inclusive work environment for its female employees. The inauguration was also held in honor of International Women’s Day.
The Mysuru division has around 580 female employees, out of which 87 female employees are currently working here in the divisional office. The establishment of crèche facilities is aimed at supporting these employees by providing a safe, secure and educational space for their children during working hours.
On the occasion, Divisional Operations Manager Harietha S. highlighted the importance of International Women’s Day and highlighted the importance of such welfare measures that help female employees balance their professional and family responsibilities.
According to her, the theme of this year’s International Women’s Day – Give to Gain – was appropriately reflected through this initiative. “By providing a safe and happy space for children, the organization aims to enable female employees returning from maternity leave to return to work with peace of mind for the care and well-being of their children,” she said.
The statement said the nursery facilities were designed with the developmental needs of children in mind as well as the requirements of new and nursing mothers. The center includes several baby-friendly and safety-focused features such as a dedicated breastfeeding lounge for mothers, changing stations, sleeping pods for rest and naps, CCTV coverage for enhanced security and monitoring, a doodle corner for creative activities and a reading corner to promote early learning.
The equipment has been conceived and designed with careful attention to the physical, emotional and sensory needs of young children. Special emphasis was placed on safety, including child-friendly interiors without sharp edges, the report added.
The aim was to provide high-quality child care infrastructure within the divisional office at an affordable price, similar to the premium facilities available outside, so that every mother returning from maternity leave could be assured of the safety of her child, the report added.
The fee structure for crèche facilities has been fixed with a one-time registration fee of ₹500. The monthly fee is ₹1,500 while the half-day care fee is ₹1,000. The first session will be from 9:30 am to 1:30 pm and the second session from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. An optional quarterly payment of ₹4,200 has also been provided, the report said.
