
India fast bowler Arshdeep Singh refused to apologize to Daryl Mitchell after hitting him with a throw during the T20 World Cup 2026 final against New Zealand on Sunday March 8 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The incident took place in the 11th over of the second innings after Mitchell hit the Indian seamer for consecutive sixes.
Arshdeep fought back with a couple of dot balls but finally hit Mitchell in great fervour. On the fifth ball of the over, Arshdeep bowled a delivery that was hit by the Kiwi batter straight at him and threw the ball onto the stumps.

However, when the Kiwi batter was well inside his crease, the ball hit him, infuriating Mitchell. Much to everyone’s surprise, Arshdeep didn’t even apologize for his actions and started to return to his bowling brand when Mitchell angrily lunged at him.
The Kiwi batsman then engaged in a lively discussion with the on-field umpire, prompting Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav to intervene and apologize to Mitchell. The umpire also warned Arshdeep for his actions as the dramatic end finally came to an end.

Mitchell was eventually dismissed for 17 (11) by Axar Patel, who scalped his third wicket of the match.
