The police have started a series of counseling sessions for miscreants and those with criminal history at several police stations in Chittoor district.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Tushar Dudi and Additional SP Rajashekhar Raju launched the initiative here on Sunday as part of intensified efforts to curb criminal activities in the district.
The mandal-level police personnel called the troublemakers, historians and persons known for their disruptive behavior to their respective police stations and advised them to completely refrain from illegal activities. During the meeting, the police officers emphasized that every citizen must respect the law and behave responsibly in society.
Speaking to the media here, the SP warned the target group against assault, intimidation and disputes arising out of petty issues which often escalate into serious law and order problems. The SP advised them to resolve conflicts peacefully and lead a respectful life.
The Additional SP informed those who were involved in criminal cases earlier to change their behavior. He warned that any future involvement in illegal activities would require strict legal action and that police surveillance of rioters would continue across the district.
