Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)) leaders in Palakkad said expelled dissident leader PK Sasi still has an opportunity to right his wrongs and return to the party.
EN District Secretary Suresh Babu said he hoped Mr. Sasi would rectify his mistakes and return to the party. State committee member NN Krishnadas said that few leaders in the district had received such support and care from the party as Mr. Sasi.
“Perhaps because he was too pampered, he turned against the party,” Mr. Krishnadas said, adding that similar incidents had occurred in the past and Mr. Sasi appeared to be driven by personal interests. He also said that Mr. Sasi and those who left the party would eventually realize that the party’s stand was correct.
“Legal action will be taken”
Meanwhile, Mr. Suresh Babu said that he was considering legal action against Mr. Sasi over the allegations leveled against him and would take a decision after consulting the district administration. He rejected Mr Sasi’s claim that he was involved in the liquor trade and called on him to produce evidence.
Mr. Suresh Babu said that the issues raised by Mr. Sasi were discussed during the CITU conference in Visakhapatnam. “After these discussions, we believed he would stay in the party. We don’t know what happened after that,” he said.
Several other leaders also criticized Mr. Sasi. District secretariat member V. Chenthamarakshan alleged that Mr. Sasi was vilifying anyone who did not support him.
CPI(M) Sreekrishnapuram district secretary K. Jayadevan described him as a “dissident leader”, while DYFI district secretary KC Riyasudheen alleged that Mr. Rajendran was a “dissident leader”, while DYFI district secretary K. Sasi considered the party office a center of immoral activities.
