Criticizing the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) for its constant absence from the Legislative Assembly, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said the standing of the opposition party is decided by the people and not by the ruling party.
“Boycotting the session is nothing but shirking their responsibility to raise public issues in the House,” Mr Naidu said while speaking on the AP Bills 2026 in the Assembly on Friday.
He urged the elected representatives of TDP, Jana Sena Party (JSP) and BJP to work together to ensure that their alliance remains strong for the next 15 years so that the state gets the most from the continuity of governance.
Mr. Naidu said MLAs should conduct themselves properly and discharge their duties to the best of their ability. He noted that the alliance cannot afford to lose its credibility.
“The government has achieved quite a lot in the last 20 months. However, the road ahead is still not smooth enough to clear,” he noted, adding that the government is facing a financial crisis caused by the policies of the YSRCP government.
The government has approved a budget of ₹ 3.32 crore in the Assembly, but a concerted effort is needed to spend every single rupee judiciously, the chief minister said.
Mr. Naidu informed the House that the government had successfully rescheduled loans of nearly ₹43,300 crore and that plans had been made to negotiate repayment terms for another ₹1,000,000 crore.
He said that the Polavaram project would be completed before the Godavari Pushkarams and that the work at Amaravati had gained momentum. Ministers, MLCs and MLCs would be able to occupy their residential quarters in Amaravati till the next session of the state legislature, he said.
The Chief Minister further highlighted the investments the coalition government has mobilized since June 2024 and the efforts it has made to protect the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) amid vicious propaganda that the PSU has been privatised. The emphasis was on maintaining law and order.
He accused YSRCP of conspiring to destroy the sanctity of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD). It was evident from the adulteration of ghee used in making Laddu Prasadam, unfortunately YSRCP has not apologized to the public, despite solid evidence of the wrongdoing of its leaders and those who were at the helm in TTD during the party’s rule, Mr. Naidu added.
