Leeds United manager Daniel Farke was handed a one-match touchline ban after running to the referee to complain following his side’s 1-0 defeat to Manchester City in the Premier League last weekend.
Farke showed the red card to referee Peter Bankes shortly after the final whistle, the German approaching the referee to question why more stoppages were not added at the end of the match.

The ban means Farke will not be allowed on the touchline in Leeds’ FA Cup fifth round tie against Norwich City at Elland Road on Sunday. On Friday, the Leeds boss accepted the Football Association’s punishment, which includes an £8,000 fine, rather than risk the possibility of a two-match ban should he choose to contest the charges.
Farke has previously defended his actions, insisting he did not use abusive language when approaching the referee.
“I’m not light as a butterfly. I don’t look incredibly cute and sweet when I run,” Farke said. “I will never run on the field again.”
“There wasn’t one bad word. I didn’t abuse him at all. I didn’t swear at him at all. When I arrived he had a red card in his hand.
Leeds are currently experiencing a difficult run of results. The club suffered another setback on Tuesday with a 1-0 home defeat to Sunderland, leaving them just three points above the relegation zone.
Farke’s side will return to Premier League action on March 15 when they travel to Crystal Palace.
