
The state government is sympathetic to journalists and their queries are brought to the notice of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, said Housing and Information and Public Relations Minister Kolusu Parthasarathy.
Attending the ‘Chalo Vijayawada’ program jointly organized by AP Working Journalists Federation (APWJF) and AP Broadcast Journalists Association (APBJA) in the city as the chief guest on Wednesday, March 4, the minister assured the journalists that their health insurance will continue.
Regarding their request for free medical check-ups twice a year, the minister said he would discuss it with the Indian Medical Association and the hospitals. The minister also said that plans would be formulated to strengthen the welfare fund of journalists.
APWJF General Secretary G. Anjaneyulu urged the state government to continue the scheme of providing ₹3,000 per month for three years to the families of deceased journalists. He also asked for allocation of at least one nursing home in the state for journalists.
Journalists organized a massive rally on Mahatma Gandhi Road from Raghavaiah Park to Tummalapalli Kalakshetram. They raised slogans demanding the allocation of land, the establishment of a media commission, the implementation of pension facilities and the creation of a board of directors of the Media Academy.
