US War in Iran LIVE: US President Donald Trump has encouraged Iranian Kurdish forces to go on the offensive while calling the leadership of Mojtaba Khamenei “unacceptable”. He told Reuters that he must be personally involved in choosing Iran’s next leader.
“We want to be involved in the process of selecting the person to lead Iran into the future, so we don’t have to come back every five years and do it over and over again. We want someone who’s going to be great for the people, great for the country,” Trump said.
Trump’s statement came six days after the US and Israel launched strikes on Iran on Saturday. The conflict has reportedly claimed more than 1,000 lives, including at least six US service members, and caused damage and instability throughout the Middle East.
Meanwhile, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) urged Iran’s neighbors not to harbor the Americans, warning that it would identify and target them. “It is an Islamic duty for the countries of the region to accurately report the hiding place of American terrorists,” the IRGC’s intelligence unit said in a statement, according to the IRNA news agency.
