The Karnataka Lokayukta Police on Thursday, conducting search operations at premises belonging to MC Sathyanarayan, Assistant Executive Engineer Hassan City Corporation, recovered valuables worth over ₹6.82 crore, which is 200.74% of his income. However, the search is not over yet.
Searches were conducted at his house in Rakshanapuram in Hassan City and six other places, including educational institutes where his family had investments. The Lokayukta has registered a case alleging accumulation of wealth disproportionate to known sources of income.
Officials found ₹15.75 lakh in cash, 1 kilogram and 36 grams of gold jewelery (worth ₹90.75 lakh), 11 kg and 208 grams of silver articles (worth ₹18.22 lakh), two cars worth over ₹22 lakh and other valuables worth over ₹2 lakh.
The official owned six plots worth ₹52.6 crore and three houses worth over ₹5.3 crore, besides three acres and 33 guntas of agricultural land worth over ₹15.75 crore.
The search operation was delayed by three in the morning as the officer refused to open the door to the Lokayukta officials. Officials said the search would continue Friday.
