Bethell scored the joint-fastest fifty in T20 World Cup knockout history, reaching the milestone in just 19 balls to equal the record set by New Zealand’s Finn Allen in the first semi-final against South Africa at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Wednesday. He continued his onslaught to reach his hundred, showing why he is regarded as one of the best young batsmen in the game.
Walking to the crease in the fifth over, Jacks got off the mark with a six off his second ball off Jasprit Bumrah. He immediately took on Varun Chakravarthy in his first game and greeted him with three consecutive sixes, setting the tone for a remarkable innings.
