Due to rising tensions between Israel and Iran, several airspaces in the Persian Gulf region were restricted, forcing airlines to cancel or divert flights. As a result, the West Indies unit has been stuck in India for several days with no clear information on when it can return home.

Head coach Daren Sammy expressed his frustration on social media as the uncertainty continued. “I just want to go home,” he wrote earlier today.In another post a few hours later, he wrote: “At least an update, tell us something. Today tmw, next week. It’s been 5 days,” highlighting the anxiety in the team.Cricket West Indies had earlier confirmed that the team’s travel plans had been delayed as airlines avoided the affected airspace due to safety concerns. In a statement, the council said: “These restrictions are a direct result of security threats posed by military action in the Persian Gulf region, which has affected several international flight routes and required airlines to adjust scheduled flights for security reasons.”The board also assured fans that the safety of players and staff is the highest priority and that it is working with the International Cricket Council and other authorities to ensure a safe return. “CWI is working closely with the International Cricket Council (ICC), relevant government authorities and airline partners to ensure safe travel for the team and support staff is secured as quickly as possible,” the statement added.West Indies were eliminated after losing to the Indian national cricket team at the Eden Gardens. India chased down 195 with a strong unbeaten 97 from Sanju Samson.
