Sources in the Congress party said on Wednesday evening that the party is “most likely to nominate a Christian candidate” to the Rajya Sabha from Tamil Nadu.
With leaders in Tamil Nadu like Su. Thirunavukkarasar and others have set their sights on the Rajya Sabha seat, with many sources saying that M. Christopher Tilak, secretary of the All India Congress Committee, is the frontrunner.
Earlier in the day, Meenakshi Natarajan, who was MP from Madhya Pradesh from 2009-2014, was seen as the frontrunner.
However, in the evening, leaders suggested that a “Christian from Tamil Nadu” would be a member of the Rajya Sabha.
