The Left Democratic Front (LDF) is all set to announce its list of candidates for the upcoming Assembly elections as soon as the elections are declared, senior convener TP Ramakrishnan said.
Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, he said talks on seat-sharing with leading partners had progressed well, though some adjustments would have to be made at various places.
“The organizational work to ensure the victory of LDF in the elections is going on. The response of the public during house visits has been encouraging. The LDF government has kept all its promises and won the trust of the general public. It is certain that the front will have a permanent tenure to address the remaining issues as well,” he said.
The LDF formed a sub-committee headed by former finance minister TMThomas Isaac to prepare the election manifesto. On the comment of Communist Party of India (Marxist) veteran and former minister G. Sudhakaran that he did not ask for membership review, Mr. Ramakrishnan said the membership review process was yet to be completed.
“It is an organizational matter of the CPI(M). Every member has the right to renew or not to renew membership. However, those who are not active members are not considered renegades,” he said.
Mr. Ramakrishnan said the LDF would organize three big rallies across the state to protest the US-Israeli imperialist attack on Iran. The first rally will be held at Muthalakkulam grounds in Kozhikode on March 6, the second at Marine Drive in Ernakulam on March 7 and the final rally at Nayanar Park in Thiruvananthapuram on March 8.
