Makkal Needhi Maiam, founded by actor Kamal Haasan, is learned to have presented a wish list of more than 10 assembly seats during a meeting with the DMK seat-sharing committee at Anna Arivalayam on Wednesday.
Sources in the MNM said their demands have been accepted wholeheartedly and they hope to be allotted a respectable number of seats. “We have submitted a list of constituencies, mostly in metro cities. We hope they will respond favorably,” said a party functionary.
Despite joining the DMK alliance in 2024, the party did not contest the Lok Sabha elections, but its leader Kamal Haasan was elected to the Rajya Sabha. The party hopes to be able to fight for its ‘torch’ symbol in the upcoming assembly elections.
