The state government has directed officials of the irrigation department to form a technical committee to review the security measures related to the Singur project.
Steps need to be initiated to ensure that the project complies with the safety standards prescribed by the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA). Ministers N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, C. Damodar Rajanarasimha and Vivek Venkataswamy gave the instructions after reviewing the security measures put in place at Singur Dam on Wednesday.
The ministers directed the officials concerned to expedite the preparation of a detailed project report regarding the Peddareddy lift irrigation scheme in Andole constituency, which is part of the Sigur project. The DPR of the project, which envisages irrigation water for 40,000 acres, is expected to reach the government soon so that work can begin in Ugadi.
They directed the officials to complete the lining of canals of the Singur project by June 26 and also start work related to beautification and security of the projects. Officials have been directed to finalize the tendering process for the restoration of water tanks and other projects proposed in Andole constituency so that water can be provided at the earliest to start agricultural works.
