
Officials of the Andhra Pradesh Teachers’ Federation (APTF) demonstrated at district centers on Tuesday and registered a protest against the government’s failure to initiate measures to address their long-standing problems.
The federation’s state president G Hrudaja Raju and secretary YS Chiranjeevi said in a press release that they were forced to protest as their repeated pleas to the government yielded no results. They said that the concerned authorities have not raised their issues in the ongoing sessions of the assembly.
Mr. Hrudaya Raju participated in the dharnas organized in Kurnool and Nandyal districts, while Honorary President of the Federation A. Sadashiva Rao participated in the protest in Vizianagaram district. Mr. Chiranjeevi participated in the protest in Nellore and Federation leader G. Satyanarayana participated in Krishna district.
The protesting teachers demanded immediate establishment of the 12th Pay Revision Commission and announcement of 30% interim relief, release of four DA installments pending from July 1, 2024, DA arrears due from July 1, 2018, 11th PRC arrears without delay and payment of surrendered arrears.
They also urged the authorities to provide compassionate appointment to the children of teachers who died in service in the Panchayati Raj department, steps to ensure that teachers are not assigned non-teaching duties, exemption from Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) for in-service teachers, immediate payment of gratuity, reimbursement of leave and other arrears to retired teachers, increase in age of teachers in Higher Secondary (Plus) Gurukuls, Societies and MTS from 60 to 62 years and regularization of their services.
Their other demands included implementation of GPF for municipal teachers and inclusion of aided teachers in the EHS system, appointment of a committee for implementation of common service rules, implementation of 57-memo and issuance of related GO for OPS and convening of a meeting of the education minister to resolve the problems of teachers working in municipal, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas and Model Schools (KGBsVs).
