
ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 has become the most watched edition in the history of the tournament and has crossed a huge viewership milestone in India. The record figures were confirmed by International Cricket Council chairman Jay Shah in a social media post on Wednesday.
According to Shah, the tournament has already crossed 500 million viewers in India alone, making it the highest viewership recorded for any T20 World Cup. The digital surge was also notable, with streaming platform JioHotstar recording a peak of 60.5 million concurrent viewers during the competition.
The ICC boss said the tournament was designed to reach more fans than ever before and described the response from spectators as overwhelming.
“The journey of @ICC #T20WorldCup 2026 began with the ambition to make it the most global and accessible cricket event ever. I am delighted that the viewership for this event in India has crossed 500 million, the highest ever for any T20 World Cup in history,” wrote Jay Shah on X.
“It was also heartening to see @JioHotstar’s concurrent viewership reach a peak of 60.5 million. With the knockout matches of the tournament starting tonight, we hope the immense love our events are receiving from Indian fans will help break more records,” he added.

The announcement comes as the tournament moves into the crucial knockout stage, with two high-profile semi-finals on the agenda. India will face England on March 5 South Africa will face New Zealand on March 4 for a place in the final.
