A massive fire broke out at the Haldia refinery in West Bengal early Tuesday morning when a pipeline carrying diesel went up in flames, injuring at least 15 people, according to an NDTV report.

The incident occurred between 4am and 5am and the flames from the pipe were so intense that a number of workers who were nearby suffered burns, the publication said.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, Reuters reported, citing local media.

Local residents from the surrounding area as well as factory management rushed to the spot to help those injured in the fire.
