A man and his son were found dead near agricultural land in Nagaroor on Tuesday, allegedly after coming in contact with an electric fence.
The dead have been identified as Kochunni (60) and his son Akhil (32), both residents of Chenkikkunnu. Their bodies were discovered in a small stream adjacent to a tapioca plantation near the Nagaroor block office.
According to police, the duo is suspected of being electrocuted late Monday. Preliminary investigations indicate that the fence was illegally connected to a power source, allegedly to prevent wild boars from destroying crops. The victims are believed to have touched the live wire while walking near the plantation.
In particular, it was found that the power lines had been hastily dismantled when the police arrived at the scene, official sources said.
The bodies were later shifted to Government Medical College Hospital, Thiruvananthapuram.
The Nagaroor police have arrested two persons, Venugopalan Potti and Gopalan, in connection with the incident.
