
SASTRA Deemed University students S. Santhameena, R. Sanchay and S. Aboorva have won the fourth edition of the National Tamil Trial Advocacy Competition being organized by the Tamil Nadu National Law University in Tiruchi this week, while Theni Government Law College team members M. Bhavadharani, M. Mohamed Asmath and N. Subha secured second place.
K. Praveen of Government Law College, Dharmapuri, and D. Vigneshwaran of School of Excellence in Law, Chennai won the Best Advocate awards.
According to Monday’s official press release, the competition was held under the auspices of the Trial Advocacy Committee of the TNNLU and is aimed at strengthening the practical dimensions of legal education.
The competition, which saw the participation of 22 teams from various law colleges, was inaugurated by advocates Nagapriya and Karthik Kanna on Saturday.
Two preliminary rounds were held to ensure a comprehensive evaluation of all participating teams. Particular emphasis was placed on participants’ knowledge and practical application of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO). The top eight teams were selected for the quarterfinals. The final round was held on March 1 and was judged by R. Malathi, District Magistrate, Tiruchengode; Prof. SM Balakrishnan, Registrar TNNLU and Senior Advocate A. Ramesh.
