India’s shuttle ace and two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu returned home to Bengaluru after a harrowing experience in Dubai after being stranded in the city due to the US bombing of Iran and subsequent closure of airspace in the Persian Gulf region. Sindhu, who was on her way to participate in the All England Championships, remained stranded in Dubai since Saturday, February 28.
The Indian ace and her team had a narrow escape after an explosion occurred near their residence on March 1. Sindhu revealed on Tuesday that she was back in India and thanked the ground teams, Dubai authorities, airport staff and immigration staff for keeping her safe and back home.
Sindhu will miss the All England Championships and said it is time for her to reset and figure out her next steps.
“Back home in Bangalore and safe.
“The last few days have been intense and uncertain, but I am truly grateful to be back in my home. My heartfelt thanks to the incredible ground teams, Dubai authorities, airport staff, immigration and every single person who took such good care of us during a very difficult time. The empathy and professionalism meant more than words.”
“For now, it’s time to rest, reset and figure out the next steps,” Sindhu said. Credit: PV Sindhu X
