Representatives of student unions, trade unions, Dalit associations and Left parties staged a protest at the Gandhi statue near GVMC on Monday. They called for action against the Rashtriya Swayam Sevak (RSS), claiming it was “inflaming communal passions” among Andhra University students.
The participants urged Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu to initiate immediate measures to curb RSS activities in the university campus. They also demanded the arrest of RSS activists and unions affiliated to the BJP. They alleged that they were disturbing the peaceful atmosphere in the campus by rummaging in communal matters and indulging in attacks on students, teachers and staff.
