Air India Express CEO Aloke Singh has announced that his tenure will end at the end of this month – the move is part of a planned management shake-up.
While a new CEO has yet to be named, chief operating officer Hamish Maxwell will take over the regulatory responsibilities of the responsible manager, Mr. Singh said in an internal email reviewed by The Hindu.
Mr. Singh took over as CEO in November 2020 and was additionally appointed Managing Director in March 2023. During his tenure, he steered the airline through the pandemic, its privatization and transition to Tata Sons along with Air India, as well as its merger with AirAsia India.
Under his leadership, the airline grew from operating 26 aircraft to a fleet of 105 and transformed itself from a predominantly international carrier connecting South India to the Persian Gulf to the country’s second largest airline by both domestic and international network reach.
