
University of Hyderabad Vice-Chancellor BJ Rao on Monday (March 2, 2026) emphasized the need to democratize access to artificial intelligence (AI), especially for students from Tier 2, Tier 2 and rural institutions.
Mr. Rao was speaking as the Chief Guest on the first day of the Faculty Development Program on ‘Discipline Specific Applications of Artificial Intelligence’ organized by AP State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) in collaboration with Andhra University and Commissionerate of Collegiate Education, AP, at the University of Hyderabad (UoH) from 26 March 2002 to March 2002.
Speaking at the inaugural session, APSCHE Chairman K. Madhu Murthy said that artificial intelligence has become a must in higher education to make students future-ready. Around 200 members are taking part in the training, who will then pass on the knowledge to institutions in Andhra Pradesh under a “train-the-trainer programme”, he added.
He said that the five-day training program is being organized to enhance artificial intelligence skills among the faculty members in line with the National Education Policy-2020 to meet the revised curriculum needs.
