The Red Sanders Anti Smuggling Task Force (RSASTF) on Monday (March 2, 2026) seized logs of red sanders weighing around eight tonnes, achieving a major breakthrough in curbing their movement.
Acting on a tip-off, a team tracking the movement of some absconding smugglers went to Siddhapura village in Karnataka’s Hassan district on Sunday evening (March 1). With the support of the local police, they raided the area and arrested eight people.
Acting on the information of the arrested accused, the police raided the open shed resembling a poultry house and found 195 logs and vehicles. The value of the seized loot is around ₹5 crore.
Task Force Leader L. Subbarayudu and Superintendent of Police P. Srinivas, who inspected the seized wood, announced the reward for the team.
