Suspended head constables J. Nani and Ashok, attached to the Krishnalanka police station, who were allegedly involved in the wrongful imprisonment, custodial torture and death of Gade Sai Krishna, surrendered to the police on Monday (June 29, 2026). The top constables have been missing since the arrest of SSVV Circle Inspector Nagaraju.
They surrendered to the NTR Commissionerate police, who shifted them to the SIT office, where the team leader, IGP M. Ravi Prakash, and SPs Adnan Nayeem Asmi and Amit Bardar interrogated them till late night.
The top constables are accused of resorting to torture Sai Krishna in custody at Krishnalanka police station, leading to his death. They allegedly assisted Mr. Nagaraj in disposing of the body.
The SIT officials also grilled several others, including Mr. Nagaraj’s friends and some outsiders who allegedly had connections with the case. “More arrests are likely soon in the case of alleged custodial torture and murder,” a senior police official said.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has scheduled the habeas corpus petition filed by the victim’s mother Gade Vijaya Lakshmi for two weeks. In a related development, a petition filed by SIT officials seeking police custody for the accused, CI Nagaraju, is scheduled for July 1.
