
The Skill Development Division of KL Deemed to be University conducted the final slot (Slot 2) of the third phase of the “Skill Palaver” for the academic year 2025-26 from 28 February to 1 March.
A statement issued on Sunday said the ‘Skill Palaver’ is a structured, project-based hackathon framework implemented across both semesters to improve students’ industry readiness through experiential learning and outcome-based competency development. The initiative integrates domain-specific hackathons into professional electives and industry-tailored skills courses using a three-phase model – Learnathon, Review and Final Hackathon that ensures progressive skill development, ongoing industry mentoring and measurable performance outcomes.
A total of 5,546 students from various disciplines participated and the hackathons covered emerging and advanced domains such as artificial intelligence, data analytics, cloud computing, cyber security, IoT, autonomous vehicles, 5G technology, blockchain, VLSI, embedded systems, software engineering, structural engineering, design and analysis, and game design.
As a measurable outcome, approximately 70% of participating students demonstrated industry readiness in emerging technology areas. Industry experts noted that nearly 60% of students achieved AI readiness by effectively using AI tools and frameworks to develop working prototypes and deployable solutions during the hackathon.
Principal, College of Engineering, V. Rajesh designed and implemented the framework while Dean – Skill Development A. Srinath led the program in coordination with Heads of Departments and designated domain SPOCs. The event was organized under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor GPS Varma and Vice-Chancellor Venkatram.
