Speaking to UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Sunday (March 1, 2026) night, Prime Minister Narendra Modi condemned the attacks on the Gulf nation, saying India stands in solidarity with the UAE in these difficult times.
Mr Modi also thanked the UAE President for taking care of the Indian community living in the Gulf country and said New Delhi supports de-escalation, regional peace, security and stability.
“He spoke to the President of the United Arab Emirates, my brother Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He strongly condemned the attacks on the UAE and regretted the loss of life in these attacks. India stands in solidarity with the UAE in these difficult times. She thanked him for taking care of the Indian community living in the UAE. We wrote that we support de-escalation, regional peace, security and stability,” Mr Modi said on X.
Iranian strikes in the UAE over the past two days have killed three and injured 58 people, including an Indian national, officials confirmed on Sunday (1 Mar 2026).
In a post on social media, the Indian Embassy in the UAE said it was aware of the Indian citizen’s injury and was in touch with hospital authorities.
The UAE Ministry of Defense said it intercepted 165 ballistic missiles, of which 152 were destroyed and 13 drowned in the sea.
It also destroyed two cruise missiles and 541 Iranian drones, of which 506 were shot down, the ministry said.
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was killed in a coordinated US-Israel airstrike in Tehran early Saturday (February 28, 2026), with Iranian state media confirming the death on Sunday (March 1, 2026).
Iran began firing missiles at Israel and Arab countries in the region in retaliation for the killing of its supreme leader.
