Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee Vice President Kolanukonda Shivaji on Sunday slammed Vijayawada MP Kesineni Sivanath (Chinni) for what he described as a failure to address critical infrastructure issues during his recent review meetings.
In his statement, Mr. Shivaji mentioned key ongoing projects in the city, including the proposed second flyover at Singh Nagar, the elevated corridor from Novotel to Nidamanur and the Vijayawada Eastern Bypass.
He said that the existing flyover at Singh Nagar is heavily congested causing serious inconvenience to daily commuters. He sought a clear stand from the government on the construction of a second flyover that would ease the ongoing bottleneck and improve the flow of traffic in the area.
Mr. Shivaji alleged that the government is deliberately delaying the National Highways Authority of India’s proposed elevated corridor from Novotel to Nidamanur. He claimed that by listing the Metro Rail project as a hurdle, the administration is keeping the detailed report of the project under wraps and not following up on the required funds. He argued that widening of this stretch is essential to decongest Vijayawada and ensure smoother transit.
The Congress leader also urged the MP to secure necessary clearances and central funding from the Union government to expedite the Vijayawada Eastern Bypass project. Criticizing what he called silence over the pending DPR, he said the delay has affected the people of Vijayawada. He reiterated his demand that the National Highways Authority of India prioritize these stretches in its upcoming project cycle.
