
The conflict between the US, Israel and Iran has led to major disruptions at some of the busiest airports in India and around the world. As several passengers wait to travel to the Gulf countries, many airlines such as Air India, IndiGo and Emirates have canceled hundreds of flights to cities including Dubai, Kuwait, Muscat, Qatar, Riyadh and Saudi Arabia amid hostilities in the Middle East.
Here’s what’s happening at key airports in India:
Mumbai Airport
Passengers were stranded at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport as several flights were canceled following tensions in the Middle East. Some people even complained of waiting for more than 24 hours, as reported by India Today.
Delhi airport
Early Monday morning, Delhi Airport headed to X to inform fliers that due to the evolving political situation in the Middle East, “westbound international flights continue to experience disruptions and schedule changes.”
The airport advised passengers to check with their respective airlines for the latest flight updates before traveling to the airport.
The passenger said Monday that she was told all flights to Saudi Arabia were on time. However, the man who was hoping to go to Muscat said that the Air India flight to Muscat had just been cancelled.
“My parents went to Saudi Arabia for Umrah. We came to drop them off. We just cut them off… We were told that all flights to Saudi Arabia they are on time… We were scared because the Gulf is on fire today and our parents are going to a place which is a war zone,” said Dr Rafia Khan.

She said her family faced “a lot of trouble repeatedly contacting the airlines. Many passengers were overwhelmed with questions… But the staff were very polite and nice to us.”
“They gave us the details of all the flights properly… We got the correct information…,” she said.
Meanwhile, another passenger at the IGI airport said, “The Air India flight to Muscat that was supposed to leave around 10 am has just been cancelled. I work in tourism.”
“The Air India flight from Mumbai on which several of my clients were supposed to travel has also been cancelled… We are not getting any information about the rescheduling…,” he added.

The traveler said that people from here go to Makkah and Madinah for worship during Ramadan. “Almost all flights to the Middle East are currently cancelled…,” he told ANI.
Cochin International Airport
More than 50 Gulf-bound flights were canceled at the Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) in Nedumbassery, leaving several passengers stranded.

Amritsar Airport
Amritsar Airport said 12 flights were canceled at the Guru Ram Dass Jee International Airport on Monday due to the closure of Iranian airspace. These flights include:
“Passengers are advised to stay in touch with their respective airlines for updates,” Amritsar Airport said in a post on X.
Bengaluru Airport
On February 28, Bengaluru Airport posted a message on X: “Due to the evolving situation in parts of the Middle East, some international flights are undergoing schedule changes.”
The situation at airports in the Middle East
Abu Dhabi Airport said one person died and several were injured overnight after the emirate intercepted an Iranian drone.
Dubai’s main airport, the world’s busiest international hub, reported damage to a concourse that injured four employees.
