The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday announced that Afghanistan will tour India in June 2026 for a one-off Test, followed by a three-match One-Day International (ODI) series.
The tour will begin with a one-off Test at New Chandigarh from June 6 to June 10, with play scheduled to start at 9:30 am IST. The teams will then switch to the 50-over format, with the ODI series starting on June 14 in Dharamshala. The second ODI will be played in Lucknow on June 17, while the third and final match of the series is scheduled for June 20 in Chennai. All the three ODIs will start at 1:30 PM IST.
Afghanistan last traveled to India in June 2018 for a historic one-off Test, their first appearance in the longest format after being granted Test status by the International Cricket Council in 2017. On that occasion, the Indian national cricket team secured victory over two days in Bengaluru, winning by an innings and 262 runs. Afghanistan were dismissed twice on the same day, only the fourth such instance in Test history, while India recorded their biggest Test innings win at the time and became the first Asian side to complete a Test win over two days.
The upcoming series will mark Afghanistan’s return to India for a red-ball bilateral and will give both teams the opportunity to engage in different formats at the start of the 2026 international calendar.
