Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy exhorted Telugus settled/working in the Gulf to be on high alert in view of the escalated tensions in the region.
He asked the Telugus to follow the security instructions issued by the embassies from time to time and stay safe. The Telangana government would coordinate with the central government to evacuate people from the region if the tension escalates further and an emergency occurs.
Mr. Revanth Reddy said that the state government was constantly monitoring the situation in Iran and other Gulf countries and asked the officials concerned to be ready to take necessary steps in close coordination with the Centre.
Officials have been directed to consult with Indian embassies and consulates in the affected areas. The safety of people hailing from Telangana was the highest priority for the state government, he said and wished that everyone hailing from the state would remain safe.
