Ernakulam district panchayat will soon launch a job portal where people can choose female workers, from domestic helpers and drivers to tech-savvy professionals.
The Anganamitra project is designed to financially support women by providing them with employment opportunities. In the first phase, around 5,000 women will be enrolled in the list.
“The aim of the project is to ensure financial independence for women. The aim is to bring job seekers as well as job providers on the platform. Women will be registered on the portal and an application will be developed to facilitate this. Any woman above 18 years and willing to work can apply,” said KG Radhakrishnan, president of the local body.
The job portal connects job seekers with individuals and companies offering job opportunities. The portal will feature job profiles of women along with the ratings they receive for their work. The Panchayat will provide identity cards and uniforms to the women.
The project will be led by Kudumbashree. Tenders will be announced for the development of the app, he said.
