The music of our country is a spiritual journey, a meditation, a prayer and a celebration of life. Music has flowed through our civilization like the holy Ganga, said Vice President (VP) CP Radhakrishnan.
He was speaking after laying the foundation stone of Chetana Ganashram in Thrissur on Sunday.
Addressing the gathering, the Vice President said the country has a rich musical tradition dating back thousands of years.
The Vice President also cited historical evidence of the vibrant musical culture of ancient South India, including inscriptions at the Brihadisvara temple built by the Chola kings, which record the appointment and support of hundreds of musicians and dancers.
The Vice President appreciated the vision of Chetan Ganashram as an eco-friendly music campus dedicated to music meditation and therapy. He observed that the seven tones symbolized unity in diversity, each distinct yet harmonious together, offering a profound lesson for humanity.
He appreciated the inclusive management of the Ganashram involving people of various faiths, including well-known personalities like singer KJ Yesudas, and appreciated its efforts to bring people together under the spiritual umbrella of music and meditation. At the end of his speech, the Vice-President emphasized that in today’s fast-paced and often stressful world, the healing power of music is more important than ever.
The ceremony was attended by Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar; Union Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Gas Suresh Gopi; Minister for Higher Education and Social Justice R. Bindu; Thrissur Corporation Mayor Niji Justin; Archbishop of Thrissur Archdiocese Mar Andrews Thazhath and others.
Chetana Ganashram is a project of Kuriakose Elias Service Society (KESS) and an initiative of CMI Devamatha Public School, Thrissur.
