BJP state unit president Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Saturday (February 28) trained his guns on Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH), alleging that the organization is “anti-democratic”, “anti-Indian constitution” and “against women’s safety”.
Launching the ‘Jana Jagratha Sadassu’, a campaign against fundamentalist politics, at the Muthalakkalam Ground here, he also accused the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) of trying to return to power in the state with the help of the JIH. Mr. Chandrasekhar urged party activists to talk to people about its policies in the coming days. He also claimed that the Communist Party of India (Marxist) supported the communal political line of the Social Democratic Party of India.
“This is a crucial assembly election that will determine the direction and future of our state. The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance is not fighting for one or two seats in it. We are trying to bring change in Kerala politics. We are looking to the future,” Mr. Chandrasekhar said.
The BJP leader claimed that though the voters had given ample opportunity to the UDF and the CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front in recent decades, they were unable to develop the state. “Kerala has the highest rate of unemployment and inflation in the country. No investors are willing to set up their projects here,” he claimed. Mr. Chandrasekhar also argued that the state should be protected from fundamentalist politics to ensure its development. “We had Marxist violence for the last 70 years. Now it can be the violence of the SOUTH. They can control the politics here,” he said.
