HYDERABAD
Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) working president and former MLA T. Jagga Reddy defended the national record of the Congress party, claiming that its governments have strengthened welfare systems, transparency and key public institutions over several decades.
In a statement on Saturday, he said the Congress-led UPA led by Sonia Gandhi, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Rahul Gandhi had expanded job opportunities for the poor, particularly through Mahatma Gandhi’s National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), which he credited with improving the financial security of low-income families.
On Telangana, Mr. Jagga Reddy said that both Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi honored the aspirations of the region by supporting the creation of a separate state, even at the political cost of undivided Andhra Pradesh. He noted that institutions like IIT Hyderabad in Sangareddy were sanctioned during the UPA tenure.
He urged citizens to consider the historical benefits of successive Congress governments and stressed the need to make him the prime minister.
