
As tensions between the United States and Iran escalate over Tehran’s nuclear program and US President Donald Trump threatens military action, several countries are urging their citizens in Iran to leave the country.

The United States has built a significant military presence in the Middle East. He is awaiting orders from Trump to launch a strike against Iran if negotiations with Tehran over its nuclear program do not produce a satisfactory outcome.
List of countries urging citizens to leave Iran:
Italy
Italy’s foreign ministry on Friday urged its citizens to leave Iran and exercise extreme caution in the Middle East, citing persistently unstable security conditions due to rising regional tensions, Reuters reported.
“Italians in (Iran) for tourism or whose presence is not absolutely necessary are urged to leave,” the ministry said in a statement, adding that travel to Iraq and Lebanon was also strongly discouraged.
Poland
The Polish Foreign Ministry has called on its citizens to leave Iran, Israel and Lebanon immediately due to the tense and unstable situation in the Middle East, it said on the X social network on Friday.

“The security situation in the Middle East is unstable. The risk of escalation is high! Airspace for civilian traffic may be closed. Return by air may be impossible or significantly more difficult,” said three posts related to Iran, Israel and Lebanon, according to Reuters.
Sweden
On January 12, 2026, the State Department advised its citizens to avoid all travel to Iran and to leave the country immediately. In February, the Foreign Secretary said those who chose to stay should not expect government assistance to evacuate.
India
On 23 February 2026, the Indian Embassy in Iran advised Indian citizens currently in the country to leave by any available means of transport, including commercial flights, during the escalation of tensions.
“Due to the evolving situation in Iran, Indian nationals currently in Iran… are advised to leave Iran by available means of transport, including commercial flights,” the Indian Embassy in Tehran said in a post on social media.
India’s foreign ministry estimates that there are usually around 10,000 citizens in Iran.

“All Indian citizens and PIOs (people of Indian origin) should exercise due caution, avoid protest or demonstration areas, stay in touch with the Indian Embassy in Iran and monitor local media for any developments,” he added.
China
The government on Friday warned its citizens to evacuate Iran immediately, citing a significant increase in external security risks due to rising regional tensions.
“Chinese nationals currently in Iran are advised to strengthen security measures,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
China has advised its citizens to avoid traveling to Iran for the time being “in light of the current security situation”.
Cyprus
On 13 January 2026, the Cypriot Foreign Ministry warned its citizens to avoid all travel to Iran and to leave the country immediately amid rising regional tensions.
Singapore
Singapore’s foreign ministry has advised its citizens to continue postponing all travel to Iran due to heightened regional tensions and security concerns, Reuters reported.
Germany
Germany has urged its citizens to leave Iran, noting that commercial flights are still operating and departures within the country remain possible, its foreign ministry said on January 20.
Brazil
Brazil has previously advised its citizens to leave Iran, following a previous warning to the people of Lebanon in January. Last year, the government also recommended that Brazilians avoid traveling to both countries.
Serbia
Serbia has urged its citizens not to travel to Iran in the coming period. “Due to the worsening security situation, citizens of the Republic of Serbia are not advised to travel to Iran in the coming period,” the foreign ministry said in a statement on its website.

United Kingdom
On Friday, the UK announced it would temporarily withdraw staff from Iran over regional security concerns. The Foreign Office said its capacity to assist British citizens is now severely limited, with the embassy operating remotely and no personal consular services available, even in an emergency.

Earlier on February 6, the U.S. virtual embassy in Iran said: “U.S. citizens should expect continued Internet outages, plan for alternative means of communication, and if safe to do so, consider flying from Iran overland to Armenia or Türkiye.”

Earlier on Friday, the US State Department said Secretary of State Marco Rubio would make a quick trip to Israel early next week.

The U.S. Embassy in Israel has previously called on employees who want to leave to leave, joining other countries in encouraging people to leave the region and signaling that U.S. military action may be imminent. The announcement of Rubio’s visit could indicate a longer timeline for a potential strike, the AP reported.
