
The museum police registered a case against former IPS officer and Thiruvananthapuram Corporation councilor R. Sreelekha for allegedly revealing the identity of minor rape survivors through his YouTube channel Sasneham Sreelekha.
The case was filed under the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act (POCSO) and Section 72 (prohibits the printing or publication of any matter which reveals the identity of a victim of sex offences) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
According to the First Information Report (FIR), the episode in question related to the sexual assault cases of Kiliroor and Kaviyoor and allegedly revealed details that could lead to the identification of the survivors. He also states that their parents’ names have also been revealed. The controversial episodes were recorded in August 2022 and March 2024.
