Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Thursday (local time) slammed questions she allegedly received from House Republicans about UFOs and the “Pizzagate” conspiracy during her testimony as part of the House Oversight Committee’s investigation into convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Speaking to reporters after her impeachment, Clinton said, “It ended up being quite unusual because they started asking me about UFOs and a series of questions about Pizzagate — one of the most outrageous false conspiracy theories that has been promoted on the Internet — that served as the basis for the member’s questions.”
Questions about UFOs and “Pizzagate” – what we know
But Clinton did not reveal who asked her questions about UFOs and the Pizzagate conspiracy theory during the nearly seven-hour hearing.
Even the former secretary of state did not reveal what questions she received on these topics.
Rep. Suhas Subramanyam (D-Va.), who was questioned about Clinton’s claims about UFO and “Pizzagate” issues, told CNN that transcripts of the deposition will soon provide details.
“I hope the transcript will be released within 24 hours. I can’t go into specifics about that, but I will just say that the transcript will be very revealing about it,” the Democrat said.
The alleged UFO questions posed to Clinton come weeks after US President Obama said aliens are “real” and the Trump administration’s recent announcement of declassification of files on the subject.
Meanwhile, the now-debunked “Pizzagate” conspiracy theory that emerged in 2016 during the presidential election campaigns claimed that a child-trafficking ring was run by top Democratic politicians from the Washington, DC-based Comet Ping Pong pizzeria. A viral claim on the Internet claimed that Hillary Clinton and her campaign chairman, John Podesta, were involved.
“Very repetitive” hearing
Clinton went on to say that she repeatedly told House Republicans that she did not know Epstein and claimed that she answered “every single one” of the questions the committee asked her.
“I thought it was very repetitive. I thought they were literally asking the same questions over and over again, which I didn’t think was very productive. And then, as I said toward the end, there were some questions that were off-topic,” the former foreign secretary later told reporters.
Further, Clinton said she would not testify again and criticized the House Oversight Committee for not allowing public access to her testimony.
The Clintons agreed to testify before the House Oversight Committee under the threat of being held in contempt of Congress for defying subpoenas, The Hill reported.
Hillary’s husband and former US President Bill Clinton is scheduled to testify on Friday, February 27.
