The Telangana High Court has directed the authorities not to take any enforcement action against Dargah Hazrath Syed Tajuddin Khaja Bagh Sawar located on the premises of Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy Temple at Vemulawada in Rajanna Sircilla district, a press release said.
The directions came after one Mohammad Nazima, represented by Zeeshan Adnan Mahmood, filed a writ petition challenging the alleged illegal fencing and obstruction by the officials. The petitioner alleged that the Dargah, standing for more than 800 years as a symbol of communal harmony next to the famous Vemulawada temple, was threatened with relocation by officials, an act that struck at the very soul of the region’s composite cultural heritage, a press release said. The lawyer argued that the mutawalli had no authority to grant consent to the relocation.
Recording undertakings from the state, district collector, temple authorities and police, the court banned any relocation, demolition or modification of the shrine.
