A 21-year-old YouTuber and part-time science student who was found dead in her rented house in Hyderabad wrote in her personal diary about a man she was in a relationship with. Bonu Komali reportedly expressed that she couldn’t move on despite their separation and was always clinging to the possibility that he might come back.
“I’m afraid to move on because what if he comes back? I know I should let go, I know he’s not mine, I know he’s not even trying to stay. But a part of me is still waiting, still hoping, still imagining he’ll choose me one day.” She wrote that it was impossible to move on because when she finally leaves, what if she “turns around and looks for me,” Komali wrote, according to NDTV.
Body found in rented apartment
Komali, a resident of Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, was found hanging from a ceiling fan around 3pm on Monday. She was pursuing her bachelor’s degree at a private college in Hyderabad and before taking the extreme step, texted her mother saying, “I love you so much.”
Her phone was later switched off, which made her mother – who works in Kuwait – suspicious. She then contacted Komali’s friends and asked them to visit her apartment.
“Around 3 pm, when repeated knocks yielded no response, we broke the latch and found her hanging from the ceiling fan,” police officer Ch Venkanna said, according to NDTV.
A ladder and a saree were found near the crime scene.
“Preliminary investigations indicate emotional distress due to a long-standing relationship dispute,” he said.
A police investigation is underway
According to police, Komali was in a three-year relationship with a 27-year-old software engineer who was also a YouTuber, but the two reportedly broke up recently.
Police said Komali had attempted suicide six months ago.
Her body was taken to Osmania General Hospital for post-mortem. Authorities have registered a case of suspicious death and are collecting digital and physical evidence to determine the exact circumstances.
Police are continuing their investigation, examining phone records, messages and statements from friends and neighbors to explore all possible angles related to the suicide.
