BRS working president KT Rama Rao with family members of the child at Kummera village in Nagarkurnool district on Wednesday.
Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao has condemned the “killing” of a two-month-old baby in Kummera village of Nagarkurnool district, terming it as an incident that has shaken Telangana with grief and shame.
After visiting the victim’s family in Nagarkurnool on Wednesday, Mr Rama Rao held the Congress government responsible for what he described as an inexcusable silence over the attack and demanded the immediate filing of murder charges against the eight accused and their immediate arrest.
Mr. Rama Rao said that anyone who extends support to those involved in crime, be it a Chief Minister, a local MLA or an MP, will be morally complicit in protecting the murderers. He insisted that the accused must face the maximum punishment, including the death penalty if justified, and should not be allowed to walk free under any circumstances.
He demanded that the state government provide a compensation of ₹1 crore to the bereaved family. The BRS leader accused the government of trying to deflect the investigation by abusing administrative authority and influencing the police.
BC associations condemn the incident
Meanwhile, in Hyderabad, National BC Welfare Association President and MP (Rajya Sabha) President R. Krishnaiah expressed deep concern over the attack and demanded swift action against the accused. BC associations visited the grieving family on Tuesday.
Mr. Krishnaiah said the eight members involved must be arrested and remanded in judicial custody without delay and asked for the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the incident. He said violence against BC communities was on the rise in Telangana and criticized the government for failing to curb caste-based attacks.
He noted that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, when he was in the opposition, had often spoken about the atrocities in the state and he should now respond urgently.
BC organizations have decided to stage peaceful protests across the state demanding legal action, protection of BC communities and immediate financial assistance to affected families. He also called for stronger measures to ensure BC’s long-term security and development.
