Risk allowance for police personnel should be fixed at an amount not less than the daily salary, demanded the Ernakulam District (Rural) Kerala Police Association (KPA) meeting at Perumbavoor on Wednesday.
The association made the demand in a resolution citing the increasing number of security risk cases faced by the police. “Cases of people stalking and attacking police officers in their private spaces are on the rise. The police often have to deal with people addicted to drugs, mentally disturbed people and people with contagious sexually transmitted infections and often have to face their attacks. In view of these facts, the risk allowance should be increased,” the resolution reads.
The meeting also demanded steps to appoint more women in police stations for effective implementation of projects for the welfare of women, children and the elderly.
District Superintendent of Police (Ernakulam Rural) KS Sudarshan inaugurated the meeting presided over by KPA District President ER Athman. Deputy Superintendent of Police R. Jose was the chief guest.
