Former minister and BRS deputy chief T. Harish Rao on Wednesday slammed the state government, saying it has failed to fulfill its promises to farmers and is diverting public funds for luxury goods and large-scale projects instead of supporting the poor farming community.
In a press release, Mr. Harish Rao criticized Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for not releasing funds for the Rythu Bharosa scheme. He recalled the Chief Minister’s comments at a public meeting in Miryalaguda on February 4, where Mr. Revanth Reddy reportedly assured that the Rythu Bharos amounts would be deposited once the municipal elections were over.
“Even though it has been ten days since the model code of conduct expired, there is no sign of Ryth Bharos,” he said. He added that the issue was not even discussed at the recent government meeting, which is proof that the government never took its commitment seriously.
Accusing the Congress of making a mockery of the Rythu Bharosa scheme for two seasons, the BRS leader said the election promise of providing ₹15,000 per acre has turned into a tool of political deception.
Criticizing the government’s financial decisions, Mr. Harish Rao questioned how funds worth thousands of crores were allocated for projects such as beautification of the Musi River, demolition and redevelopment around river banks, new parks, land acquisition for the proposed Fourth City and extensive road works, citing lack of funds to support farmers.
He claimed that the government has already paid ₹25,000 crore in kickbacks to big contractors in the current financial year. The senior BRS MLA also criticized the camp office in Jubilee Hills proposed by the Chief Minister.
